Mrs. Lanovaz

Hello! I am so excited to meet all the new and returning families and children! This will be the start of my seventh year as the Emmeline Pre-school Teacher and as always, feel very blessed to be working with wonderful families, supportive parent board and exceptional teacher assistants (Mrs. Rey and Mrs. Walcer)

A little bit about myself. I have taught in preschool/earlychildhood for over 20 plus years. I

have two daughters. Elizabeth is currently a student at the University of Alberta.  My younger daughter, Rebecca, will be graduating from Grade twelve this year and will be attending University of Saskatchewan in the fall . My husband, Joel, is a professor in the College of Kinesiology at the U of S.

Outside of my life as a teacher, I keep busy as a Brownie Leader for Girl Guides of Canada and am the Vice President, for the Saskatoon Preschool Foundation.  .I also enjoy traveling so hope to continue our adventures once COVID-19 allows.

I am an advocate for play-based programs for young children. I feel that children develop many more skills when allowed to explore and discover in a simulating environments and children.  That exploration ignites curiosity and wonder which are two essential components to a child’s early learning environments.

The Emmeline Preschool program incorporates several aspects of the Reggio Emilia philosophy.   I do have a monthly theme but use them as a spring board to see what interests and engages the students. This requires a lot of observations, interactions and discovery between teacher, parents and children. What you will see will be a variety of learning areas dramatic  play, sensory experiences, art based exploration, hands on learning and a variety of building and exploration materials. My goal as the teacher is to recognize what interests the children and provide the materials and resources to enhance their “spark” and curiosity.

Parents are an integral part of the program.  I am extremely lucky to have families

that are generous with their time and talents to help support my role as the teacher and the program I provide. Parents are the extension for home that help to engage and excite the children to learn. Our classroom door is always open!

I look forward to a wonderful year.

Mrs. Lanovaz

Mrs. Walcer

Hi! My names is Mrs. Walcer and I am thrilled to be joining Emmeline Preschool as their full time Educational Assistant this year.  For the past three years I have worked as their afternoon assistant.

Before coming to Emmeline Preschool I owned and operated a home daycare for 12 plus years and loved it immensely!

Before opening my daycare, I was supervisor at a childcare center in Saskatoon and have worked as an educational assistant in an elementary school.

Now as my children Makenzi (19) and Joshua (16) are older I am excited to be working full time out of the home.

My Educational background includes my Early childhood level 2 from Polytech, correspondence classes and an updated standard first aid, CPR and AED. I have a love of learning and continue to enhance my education.

I look forward to supporting Mrs. Lanovaz and the children to provide a safe, fun and secure atmosphere to learn and grow.
